A Day At The Royal Festival Hall

We spent the day in London recently for my mum's birthday, my family and I surprised her with a trip to the Royal Festival Hall to see Ludovico Einaudi, pianist. Knowing the day would be different from something I usually do I had to make a post out of it and share my experience.
After debating with myself and then on snapchat whether to wear a black or white jacket, I clearly opted for white as I thought that would match the fact we are supposed to be in summer! We drove down meeting my sister at her new flat before hopping on the tube to Waterloo station. The amount of times I've walked the embankment now is unreal however it never fails to impress me. It is such a lively area with crowds of people and different entertainers at every corner. This was my first time going in to the festival hall which is often the host of many musical talents, but this felt even more special knowing how much my mum would enjoy it.

When my sister suggested getting her a ticket I was unsure that something under the 'proms' would be my cup of tea. I almost turned down attending but with a little push from my Dad I changed my mind. Stepping out from the norm and having preconceived ideas of what you will and won't like can often hold you back. After going to this I will certainly open my mind and give everything a go at least once because I loved it.
I come from a family who love music, all knowing how to play at least one instrument, even me at one point! Not that I could play a note now as I focused more on dance as I got older. Times like this really make you wish you didn't give it up. He played so beautifully and I found his music very emotional, If I was in the right mood I'm sure I could've cried. It was such an escape, everyone was completely focused on the music and so silent apart from every note which allowed you to get completely absorbed. The break half way through lead out on to the terrace with stunning views of the thames and London which just topped off what was already a magical event.
